Birthday number 9 was a special one. I put up a few decorations for her to find when she came down for breakfast. She had to explain a few times to her little bro that it was her birthday.
We've got a little tradition that on her birthday she gets to pick something special she would like to do. She wished to go to the book store for hot chocolate and to look at books. She also wanted to go see the movie Christopher Robin. I can't think of a day of activities that would suite her better.
I told her that she could pick out a new book, but we discovered that Books-A-Million started carrying used books so she walked away with about 6. She picked out a few Nancy Drew books, a Winnie-the-Poooh book we don't have, a Little House book and a book called A Book With No Pictures. We had a great time at the movies too. We don't get to go see many movies, so it's always a special treat.
Afterwards we went to Grandma's house (there happened to be biggest toadstool in her yard). She was watching Jed. Evangeline wanted to eat supper at Moger's so we met Kyle there.
She's really starting to look so grown up.
After dinner we came home for presents and cake. Her favorite gift was a party light from Jed. The light projects all kinds of colors on the walls. They love to dance, so this should really make their dance parties exciting.
I had recently purchased a four tier cake pan set and thought I would try it out for her cake. It was SO tall. The moment I cut into it it was ready to fall over.
I'm not sure how 9 years has come an gone so quickly. In so many ways it seems like my baby girl was just born. Evangeline was giving me a hard time about how emotional I was all day long. I told her she'll understand someday when she's a mom. There are just no words to describe the joy this little girl has brought me this past 9 years. We love her so much.
