Two's A Crowd

This naughty cat simply WILL NOT leave Jed alone while he takes a bath!  We have to put him down repeatedly.  He is absolutely obsessed with bath time!  He sniffs Jed, paws at the water, takes sips and Jed is completely oblivious.  Other times Jed is very aware and slightly annoyed.  Either way it's pretty funny...

Connor Prairie

Does it get any better than a day full of hands-on pioneer fun?  NO!  We had such fun at Connor Prairie with Kristen, Peggy and the cousins.  This place is especially neat because you can touch and interact with everything.  It's not just a museum with things to look at like many pioneer villages.  The kids could try out the beds, dress up in period attire, use the kitchen, weed in the gardens, etc.  The workers stayed in character the whole time.  It was fun and educational.  As we entered the village the girls got to pick out a job that a pioneer girl would have had back in the 1800's.  Evangeline decided on housekeeper.  They were encouraged to ask the residents of each home if they had some work they could do for them.  Evangeline was taking this very seriously.  She made beds, swept, tidied up kitchens and bedrooms, etc..  She loved it.  Jed had a great time too.  He enjoyed playing with wooden blocks and toy soldiers that they had in several of the houses.  He also had a lot of fun in the kitchens where wooden spoons were abundant.

As for souvenirs, Jed got a coonskin cap and Evangeline picked out a rag doll making kit.  The next morning Evangeline came down stairs in her long cotton nightgown with her shawl on and got straight to work on her doll.  She stitched all morning long.  Jed ran around like a crazy with his cap on.  It was quite the scene.

Quality Time With Her Dad

Our church hosted a father/child night at the Rex ballpark in Terre Haute.  Kyle took Evangeline and the two of them had a great time.  Evangeline enjoyed telling me all about it when they returned home.  She was especially excited about the snow cone she got to eat out of a little baseball helmet and a big inflatable bat she talked her dad into buying for her.  Such a special evening.

A Happy Father's Day

What a lovely Father's Day picnic we had at our home.  We cooked out and the girls swam.  Jed was particularly taken with his Grandpa this day.  Kyle and I have such wonderful dads, which are now such wonderful grandfathers.  And that Kyle....he's the kind of father I wish every child could have....

At Home

Little E not looking so little anymore....

Nothing sweeter than a napping child...

Evangeline was so proud of the clothes she made for her animal friends...

It's been a week.  I finally went to the doctor for my horrific back pain only to be told that I had potential kidney stones.  From there it was off to the hospital for a CT scan.  From there it wasn't kidney stones, but it was fluid on my heart.  From there it was an EKG, blood and urine tests and off to the hospital for an echocardiogram.  From there is was days of agony thinking there is something seriously wrong.  From there it was a call from the doctor that after all of that there is no fluid on the heart....just a sprained tenderloin.  Annoying and stressful, yes, but it's one of those moments that remind you just how valuable good health is.  I'm thankful.
