Autumn in the Air

The Fall Festival came and went.  We sure got lucky with the weather.  They were calling for a soaker of a weekend, but it ended up being absolutely beautiful.  Jed enjoyed his first parade.  I choked back the tears watching him when the Marshall High School band came marching by.  He was enthralled.  Watching a person experience things for the very first time with such awe and amazement is so beautiful, it's almost too much.

Evangeline had a blast.  The cousins were there, which of course meant fun.

Kyle was in the parade this year as president of the Rotary Club.  He also had a few of his signs on the Republican float, a.k.a. big haystack pulled by a trailer.  Later, he worked for a time at the Republican booth.  I sat with him.  Boy, we sure had some interesting conversation with the townsfolk.  The Trump sign drew in some characters.  It was sure interesting to hear what people had to say on the subject.

Peggy's brother, Steve came to town.  We all celebrated Peggy, Roy and Lily's birthday.  What a lovely weekend it was.

Evangeline talked her daddy in to buying her a stuffed candy corn.  She has had such fun with it.  Cornelia is the name she gave it.  She's been taking it everywhere, reading it stories, talking to it, playing with it.  Most little girls play like this with baby dolls....my daughter mothers things like candy corn.

A New Chapter for my Dad

There was a retirement reception for my dad last week at his work.  His secretaries called me a few weeks back to let me know about it and of course I had to be there.  I know he will be very missed by his co-workers.  I know this because my dad is awesome.  I have always been so proud when I go visit him at work.  I want everyone to know that he's my dad.  He is going to leave a big huge void at MLX Graphics turned Moore Langen turned RR Donnelly.

I took a few pictures of my dad at work.  I told him that he would someday be happy I took them.

I am going to miss giving my dad hugs and smelling printing ink on his clothes.  This has been his smell for as long as I can remember.  I'm so proud of my dad.  I'm happy that the time for him has come to say goodbye to the days of the 9-5 and enjoy the good life at the farm doing whatever the heck he wants to do.

Summer Art Camp

Well, I'm very behind on this post, but here are some of the pieces Evangeline made at the camp she attended at the Swope this past summer.   It was a class inspired by the works of Eric Carle.  They did a lot of murals and collages.  She thoroughly enjoyed herself.  One of the first pieces she talked about was the ladybug she made from paper machete.  She was given the choice to either make a ladybug or butterfly.  She was in utter turmoil over this decision.  Ultimately she chose the ladybug...I think she made the right choice.

The kids painted several collages.  They used all sorts of techniques to get different textures on their paintings.  Then they used the paintings to create various crafts.  I loved to see all of the things she brought home each day and hear her tell me all about them.

I took these pictures of her artwork the last week at our old house.  As I was taking them I snapped these last two pictures.  Images I would miss from our old home...Evangeline's never-ending rock creations, and that darn ornamental grass.....

Growing Up

Jed got his first hair cut last Wednesday.  I wasn't really ready to cut those ear bangs, but I suppose it was time.  And what do you know...he got even cuter...

Here he is pre-hair cut.

Let's just say Sarah earned her money with this job.

Here he is sporting the new do....

My little fella loves to crawl over and lay his head on his mama....melts me.

Cale is 2 this week!  Doesn't seem possible.  We had fun celebrating at his Daniel Tiger birthday party.  What a lovely day it was.

Aunt Candice and Uncle Zach had the best party favors!
