Visiting Dad

We visited Dad the first chance we got once school was out.  We walked around admiring all of his raised beds that he built from old wood from the deck.  We marveled at the sight that was the remains of my grandparents old house...it had been bulldozed away and it all looks so good!  Dad checked something off of his granddaughter's bucket list by teaching her to make homemade noodles.  I found three old quilts that just needed minor repairs to be restored.  It was seriously just a great day.

Let's not forget Grandpa's bread waiting for us!!!

We took a walk back to the pond and the grass on both sides of the path were so high you could only see the top of Jed's head bobbing along....

A flower for Grandpa!! (Grandpa calls them chigger weeds.)

Grandpa carried a complaining Jed back on his shoulders, but when he hoisted him up he didn't think about the tie under his hat, so he basically had a noose around his neck the whole way back.  One of those moments when something seems like a good idea.....of course I was cracking up the whole time because it was just too hilarious...

Dreams coming true in Grandpa's kitchen....

Making Evangeline's favorite...butter noodles.

The kids went out to pick huge radishes with their grandpa from his garden, then they went in and made Fraggle Rock inspired "Doozer Sticks".

These beautiful quilts were either made by my grandma or one of my great aunts.  They are so lovely.  I fixed some spots and gave them a good wash and they are just as good as ever...

Before leaving, Dad gave the kids a ride on his new mower.  I'm not sure who had more fun because I could hear them all cracking up as they rode through the orchard!
