One of my favorite things about Southern Illinois was all the local produce. We had great orchards, wineries, berry patches. It's a bit different here. A different planting zone. I was so worried when we moved back from Carbondale that there wouldn't be any good berry patches. I was so please to find a lovely one right outside of Terre Haute.
Evangeline is no stranger to berry pickin'. She got to work straight away.
Here she is slinging strawberries into her box like an old pro.
Grandma's no slacker either.
We were pretty excited about the crazy mutant strawberries we found.
It was a beautiful day and we had the whole patch to ourselves.
I promised Evangeline ice cream or a strawberry shortcake from the little store there at the patch. What did she pick... a bag of Cheetos!
We have a lot of big plans for these berries.
