Baby Ways

This kid.  He absolutely will not take a nap in his crib.  I get him to sleep and gently go to lay him down...the very moment I hover him over his crib to place him in it, he goes bonkers.  I don't know what it is.  I finally have him sleeping in the crib at night.  I do all of his bedtime routine before naptime, but he just isn't having any part of it.  So this is what I do now...I spread out the absolutely beautiful quilt my Aunt Rita made for Jed, and lay down with him on the floor.  I nurse him to sleep and then creep out of the room with him napping on the floor.  Then I listen the whole time for the sound of baby movement because the very minute he wakes up he is on the go.  It's not ideal, but it's better than no nap at all, which was the case before I came up with this method.  This dude needs a nap, the whole world is better for it.

Another successful Summer Reading Program at the library is in the books.  The library always keeps us busy through the months of June and July.  There are so many great programs for Evangeline to attend.  We usually hit the library about 2-3 times a week.  She loves it.  Jed, on the other hand likes to be as loud as possible in the library.  I usually have to take him out during the programs because he is simply a handful.  I've been taking him to the children's area to wait on big sis where he likes to throw things off of shelves, scream, babble and yank books out by the handfuls.

Evangeline spent so much time with her cousins this past week during their week-long stay.  She was loving every moment of it.  We had them sleep over here one night.  Evangeline had been planning their activities for days.  A top priority was a birthday party she wanted to have for Kirsten, the American Girl doll.  She decorated, made cards, games and wrapped presents.  We even made cake balls with the Easy Bake Oven.  It was a pretty special party for one lucky doll.

These three can't keep their hands off Jed...poor guy.  He'd better get used to this....
