4th of July

Zach, Candice, Cale, my mom and Peggy came over to spend the day with us on the 4th of July.  We swam, cooked out and did some fireworks.  Evangeline was very excited to give Cale a book called Snuggle the Baby.  It's an interactive book about how to care for a baby.  She read it to him as soon as he got here.

What would Evangeline do without her collection of holiday head apparel?!  She got this one from Jeanne and Kenny years ago and has worn it each 4th of July.  She told me on the way back from fireworks that she is planning to wear it each year on the 4th of July until she dies.

Haha!  Jed and Cale didn't know what to think of all the fireworks.  Kyle set a big loud one off and Cale clung to my leg and Jed screamed continually throughout the duration of the firework.  They weren't necessarily screams of terror, just screams.  He was clearly confused about the goings on of the day.

Summertime Firsts

He loved his first popsicle but got so mad when it got melty and fell off the stick.  Sometimes it's just rough being a baby.

Jeddy Bear

The boy who has stolen my heart.....

Slow Summer Days

Jed calls his Puddle Jumper his "purple".  He likes to wear his purple and splash around on the steps of the pool.

As I've mentioned before, Evangeline seems totally unimpressed with all the deer...something she's seen all the time since we've moved back to Marshall, but for me as a city girl it never gets old.  Although the speckled baby fawn napping under our front yard tree lately does have her attention.

I'm so glad I kept a few pairs of my grandma Parson's church bizarre earrings.  She had a whole box of these fabulous pairs of costume jewelry earrings that she used to let me and Zachary play with when we visited her.  She kept them in a shoe box and we used to get them out along with a TV tray and play jewelry shop.  Evangeline likes to wear them sometimes when we go to the store.  She always gets lots of complements.

I love summer.

Camp Cornerstone

Evangeline attended out church's camp for the second year.  It's held at Mill Creek at a super nice cabin.  Believe me, they weren't roughing it.  Each girl got their own full size bunk bed.  Evangeline was so thrilled to get a top.  She had such a wonderful time.  It was two nights and three days long this year.  When I told her how long it was going to be she said, "Mommy, can I try it by myself this year, without you or Ammie."  She's growing up...

We did get invited to a cookout on her first night.  The next two days it was all I could do not to get in the car and drive out just to check on her.  I missed her so much and absolutely could not wait to pick her up.  They are talking about making it 3 or 4 nights next year!  I don't know what I'll do!

When I picked her up I asked her if she was ready to come home or if she could have used another day.  She replied, "I could have used another day, but don't think for a second that I didn't miss you."

S.E.L.'s Sale

The girls have been planning this lemonade/baked good/yardsale for weeks now.  It originated with a way they were going to raise money for their band, Cousins In Tune.  I have found pieces of notebook paper on several occasions detailing exactly what they would need for their sale, who's in charge of what and what their prices were going to be.  At one point Evangeline was going to be selling "customized cakes".  I had to let her down gently.
We finally got it all sorted out and the girls came up with S.E.L's (Savannah, Evangeline, Lily) Sale.  It was a success.

Jed was his usual handful.  One thing that amused him was batting at Peggy's birdfeeders.  He would really get them going then stand with his hands out all freaked out that they were going to swing back and hit him in the face.  Of course he wasn't tall enough for that to happen, but it was kind of funny to watch him.  He must have thought that batting at the bird feeders was fun enough to be worth the risk.

The girls ended up earning just a little under $40 total for the two hours they were set up.  Not too shabby I would say.  Even better, they had a lot of fun doing this.

A Little Croquet

We set up our old croquet set at Peggy's house over the weekend while the Hwangs were in town.  The kids had such fun playing in Peggy's pretty yard.
