Ramblings

It's getting mighty crisp outside.  Perfect weather for snuggling.  I wish my grandma's were both still around for so many reasons, but I would love to thank them for the lovely blankets and things they made for me when I was little.  They are getting a second go-around, that's for sure.  I'm so grateful my parents kept them.

I took Jed to visit Kyle at the courthouse one day last week.  Jed was sure to wear his tie just incase he got put to work.

Speaking of snuggles...my favorite little people fell asleep on their mamma last night.  If it weren't for lack of neck support I could have stayed like that for hours.

Evangeline and I have been making yummy fall treats after school.  We made an apple pie in honor of Johnny Appleseed's birthday a few weeks ago.  I read a joke that said something like, "Want to know if you are a control freak?  Step 1:  Bake with your child."  This cracked me up.  Sometimes it takes all I have in me to let her add things like flour and sugar to the ingredients and watch it all go flying.  We are working up to eggs.  I remember my dear old dad letting me have a go at eggs....as I recall, he'd eventually end up taking over when it came time to whisk them.

And this hair thing never gets old.  Evangeline is still so proud of her first ever purchase with her own money.  She wore it to school one day last week.  When I picked her up she made sure to tell me that there were tons of germs on it because everyone wanted to touch it.  She also thought it was funny because Ms. H, the principal, said, "I hate to tell you this, but you've got a hand in your hair."

This was a conversation in the car with Evangeline on the way home from school last week, "Mom, I had to explain to Catie that homemade cookies are better than store-bought cookies.  She brought a cookie from Wal-mart in her lunch today." She was in total shock because Catie thought store-bought cookies were better......That's my girl.

Last Friday we decided to take a walk around town with Jed's new stroller.  We stopped in at the library so Evangeline could get her own library card, which is something we've been meaning to do ever since she turned 6.  She checked out several books and the movie The Sound of Music.  We watched it that night.  She loved it.  It was so sweet to look over at her at various parts throughout the movie to see a huge smile spread across her face.
