1 week left of maternity leave. How? How? How??? Mr. Jed had his 2 month check up. He is up to 12 pounds and 23 inches. That puts him in the 50th percentile in both height and weight. Isn't it amazing how fast babies grow? The doctor said he's perfect, but we already knew that.
It's been gorgeous....sunny and warm. The time will change soon. I'm ready for it. It's so dark in the mornings. As much as I hate to loose an hour of daylight in the evening, it sure makes it easier to get going in the morning when it's light out.
Evangeline and I got our flu shots after Jed's well-check. Evangeline had convinced herself that she was all ready to get her shot....excited even. She kept saying that she couldn't wait to get her shot. Weird, I know, but she had been agonizing over it for a week and I think it was just her way of pumping herself up. So she was all set to be a brave big girl right up until the nurse whipped out the shot. Geez Louise. She freaked. The nurse and I ending up having to hold her down. It was miserable for all parties involved. Right afterward she admitted that it wasn't that bad and kept apologizing to me. I told her not to worry, that I wasn't mad and that I reacted the same way, if not worse, when I was little. (In fact my parents will probably be grinning from ear to ear with gratification when they read this....) I told her about the time I had to be drug out from under the table by several nurses. Then there was the time I accused a nurse of paralyzing my arm. So really, I had no right at all to even be the least bit mad at little Evangeline.
I told Evangeline that after our shots I would take her to Pumpkin Works. We had a great time. The weather could not have been better and it wasn't crowded at all. The maze field was in corn this year instead of soybeans. Evangeline was a perfect navigator. We had ice cream and did all sorts of things. Jed was an angel and slept the whole time. It really was a lovely afternoon.
Evangeline: "It's corn galore in here!"
School was out early on Thursday with no school on Friday for parent/teacher conferences. I had a glowing conference with Evangeline's teacher, Mrs. Crumrin. She is doing so well in school this year. She does great in math and is just a super reader. I'm so proud of her. She really loves school.
Our yard and woods are so beautiful this time of year. I can't believe how fast the leaves are falling off the trees. There really aren't many left at all. Today we got a very brief rain shower, a popcorn shower, as we call them. The darkened sky really made the colors on the trees pop and the wind was sending the leaves down by the masses. Kyle commented that you don't get a show like this in town. He's right, it was a breath-taking sight.
Oh, Evangeline. She is always gathering rocks and decorating the pavement with chalk. I love looking out at her chalked rocks and the word "Mommy" written on the back walkway.
There is a reason I don't take "in the mirror selfies", but I had to document the cuteness of Jed in my awesome new baby carrier. He loves this thing. He's just a little limp noodle as soon as I start walking around with him in it.
The jam on the counter, left out from my PB&J at lunch, caught my eye this afternoon. A little bit of summer I have preserved in a jar. How can it be that our strawberry jam day can seem like ages ago and just days ago at the same time?
Love this blog! Love them all! Can't wait to see my little pumpkins later today! And, yes, I do not feel sorry for you at all for the grief Evangeline is giving you over shots! I was one of the people having to pull you out from under the table! I was always apologizing to Dr. Green's pinch-faced nurse as she seemed irritated when she had to call for back-up! Jam day seems like a distant glimmer to me!
