Back to School

Evangeline started 5th grade, Jed started preschool, and I started my 8th year teaching 1st grade.  Evangeline has Mrs. Henry (a.k.a. Ms. Jennings) for her teacher this year.  She likes her.

My sweet mother sent me these beautiful flowers on the first day.  They were such a fun surprise.  I still have the plant growing in my classroom that she sent me my first year teaching!

Being so behind of my posts I really can't remember if these pictures of the children asleep in my bed happened the morning of the first day of school, but it was right around that time anyway.  They sleep so funny.  Here is Jed with his legs apart and Evangeline directly below him.  How in the world do they end up in these positions and stay comfortable like this??!!

Here is my sweet, smart and adorable 5th grader right before we left on our first day of school.  She looked so pretty in this outfit she received for her birthday.

And here we are, ready or not...

This picture was taken at Jed's preschool open house.  He was pretty excited to check everything out!

And here he is on his first day...I got to take him on my lunch break.  I can't believe my baby is so grown up!!!  He was so excited about his new backpack with sharks eating pizza slices on it!  He could almost fit inside it.  He just couldn't wait to start school.  He is going 3 days a week for 2.5 hours.  He's made lots of little friends and his teacher, Mrs. Kara, said at his conferences that every one just loves Jed and thinks he is very funny.

Here he is on his first day finding his cubby and putting away his backpack and shoes.

One day I got a text out of the blue from his teacher with this picture.  The text said that Jed came over to her and asked her if she had a phone.  She said that she did, and he asked her if she could take a picture of him with the beads he strung and send the picture to his mom.  Of course, this made my whole day...

And here is a picture of Jed and he good buddy, Britton Williams, at my faculty back to school cookout.  Danielle watches both of these boys and they have a lot of fun together.
