Turks and Caicos: Day 1 and Day 2

We departed for out trip to Turks and Caicos at the absolute crack of dawn.  We had to get up around 2:00AM to leave for the airport.  Thankfully we were able to stay at Wayne and Karen's Indianapolis home with them the night before and Wayne took us to the airport.  The kids were both excited to be on an airplane.  Jed was very good, but so loud.  He thought the airplane was the best place to perform all the songs he knew.  When he finally fell asleep it was a bit of a relief.

We had a very short layover in Philadelphia.  The next plane ride was nice because I had both of the kids with me in the same row of seats so they could entertain each other.

It was a lot of traveling with only very short naps for the kids on the way, but so worth the journey.  The water of the Caribbean sea was absolutely breathtaking as we descended at the Turks and Caicos airport.  It was the tiniest airport and we exited the aircraft on the runway.  There was live music in the airport which added to the excitement.

We were greeted at the resort with cold towels and fruit punch upon arrival.  Evangeline was stunned.  She looked at me and said, "this is fancy!"

We had some time to explore before we could check into our room.  We ate lunch, checked out the beach and sat in the sunshine filled lobby.  We were exhausted.

After getting to our room we wasted no time putting on our suites and hitting the beach.  The ocean was a brilliant turquoise color the likes of which I've never seen.  It was truly a wondrous sight.  The kids were at the height of their glory.

The grounds were immaculate.  There were flowering tropical plants everywhere.  This is the view from our balcony....

That night we ate at an English style pub, of all places.  Jed slept through dinner in his stroller.

After dinner we sat on the beach in a cabana and watched the sun set.  Evangeline said, "I was just thinking about how God created all of this".  I was thinking the same thing.  It's seriously such a beautiful world we live in.  We all slept very good that night.

Turks and Caicos:  DAY 2

The second day of trip started with a delicious breakfast on the beach.  The food was just incredible.

After breakfast we spent several hours at the beach.  We found a beautiful shady place to put our things.  There was a jerk shake near by where we brought our lunch down to eat at our beach chairs.  We had pulled pork, chicken, grilled corn cobs, yams, sweet potato fries....Spending our mornings on the beach was the highlight of this trip.  It was the best time.  The water was crystal clear and the kids could find so many tiny little shells in the powder white sand.  This was a beach experience unlike any other I've had.  The look of it was different, but also there were not the huge waves, tides and smell of salty air.  (Lots of pictures coming your way...it's not every day you get to watch your children enjoy the beach.)

Jed and I left Kyle and Evangeline at the beach after lunch.  It was time for Jed's nap.  Evangeline and Kyle tried out the water park and had ice cream at the ice cream truck.

When they got back I took a walk with Evangeline.  We visited a Parisian coffee shop where I had Caribbean coffee and Evangeline had a little pastry.  We went here together every day.  It was our special little "girl time" spot.  We had fun chatting and being silly together.

That evening we ate dinner at a hibachi grill.  After dinner we walked to the open air theater just in time for a Sesame Street character show.  Jed's mind was blown.  He had no idea he was going to see the cast of Sesame Street.  We didn't tell him ahead of time, so it was a total surprise.  It was so much fun to watch the looks on his face throughout the performance (hence the million pictures).  His expression went from stunned as he was trying to process it all, to complete elation.  He did some dancing, clapping, hugging his Daddy.  He didn't know what to think.  Earlier in the day we caught of a glimpse from afar of Abbi Cadabi from Sesame Street.  Jed said, "this is special."

The little girl enjoyed it too.....

We took a walk around the resort and down by the beach.  Their was a reggae concert that evening which we enjoyed.  Kyle and Evangeline stayed late watching a dance contest that followed the concert.  I took Jed back to bed.
