Independence Day was a lovely day! We spent the first half of the day at the farm with my dad and Uncle Kenny. It was so hot outside, but the kids still had a fun time in the orchard. They ran under the apple trees, and picked wild flowers and blackberries. Evangeline enjoyed eating the berries just the way I did when I was little, with sugar and milk. Dad made carnitas and oh my, were they good!
Bringing a bouquet to her mamma :)
If there is ever a stick to be found it will be found by this boy....
The berries were tart!
Jed was fascinated with the apples hanging on the trees...
Evangeline loved Grandpa's money plants. She collected a whole bag of seeds!
Next stop was Ammie's house for a cookout. Kyle bought some sparklers and things for the kids.
They both really had fun with the little snap-its. Evangeline would put them down and instruct Jed to hop on them.
We went back to our house to set off some bigger fireworks Kyle bought. He also bought some smoke bombs which were absolutely disgusting, but the kids just loved them. Jed was obsessed with them. He talked about hem for weeks afterwards.
At dusk we all went to the fairgrounds to watch the Marshall firework display. It was long and hot. Before it was over Jed was telling me that he was done with fireworks and he was ready to go to bed. I'd say we did the 4th of July justice this year.
