Evangeline and the Kindness Club planned to have a lemonade stand to help people in need. They told me that they were just planning to put what they made in the offering plate at church, which I thought was a very sweet idea. Our school secretary, and friend of mine, Danielle Cline, learned about Alex's Lemonade Stand for childhood cancer. The kids thought this was a great idea. Danielle ordered the materials and then the kids met at school in early summer to make posters.

Here's another one of Evangeline's posters....
We set a small, reasonable goal of what we hoped to raise. The goal was exceeded by hundreds. The club ended up raising over $700 for childhood cancer. The kids did this all by themselves never once asking for anything or expecting anything for personal gain (except for Jed...he did expect a cookie). It was a truly selfless act of genuine care for others. I am so happy that their are people in the world like these children. It really restores my faith in humanity and the future.
And to think that my daughter was the brain child behind the Kindness Club is just the icing on the cake!
