Art and Other Things

Last weekend I spent a Saturday morning doing one of my all time favorite Saturday morning activities. Evangeline and I met Dad at the Terre Haute farmer's market.  We bought tomatoes, green beans, peaches and I bought an adorable pair of earrings.  Then we went across the street Clabber Girl.  Oh, how I love this place.  It's filled with good vibes.  Evangeline loves to go through the circular door, then we say hi to Mr. Hulman (the manikin), then I drool over the vintage kitchen in the museum and all of this is followed by a tasty treat and baked good.  Evangeline never leaves before feeding the horse statue some apples.  It's just a lovely place.

Evangeline has been enjoying the monster coloring book she got for her birthday.  Here is a page she finished last week.  She colored the right side and then drew her own monster on the left.

And true to Evangeline's interests, here she is painting a skeleton we picked up at Joanne's last week.  I don't know if I should be concerned about her ever growing love of all things creepy, right now we just indulge her. :)

I absolutely love watching her work on artwork.  She always purses her little lips together in the most serious manor.  She really concentrates on what she is working on.

She's getting really good at painting.  She used to enjoy mixing all of the colors and as a result anything she painted turned out black.  Now she's taking care to make the colors separately.

She's getting better all the time with spelling her name.  She can do it verbally and can write it when I spell it out to her one letter at a time, but is still working on spelling it on paper all by herself.  Getting close though...

I was really amazed with this.  She said "Mommy, look at this.  I made your name."  I didn't help her or tell her how to spell it.  She has all the vowels in order, missing some of the consonants, but I was completely shocked.  Baby genius?  This mother thinks so.

Here is a picture she made to take to her cousins.  I adore her work.

Evangeline got to spend a lot of time with her cousins this past week.  She spent the night at their house last Monday while Kyle and I were out of town.  We also went to Lily's 4th birthday party yesterday.  She wanted an Abraham Lincoln party.  Here are the girls in their stove pipe hats.
