The Marshall Fair and a Birthday on the Horizon

Evangeline received a lovely birthday bouquet from Papa and Karen earlier this past week.  We have been enjoying their beauty and Evangeline has very much been enjoying the balloon that was attached to them.

The Marshall fair was in town last week.  The whole town was there;  the good, the bad and the ugly.  Evangeline had a grand old time.  Kyle and I had to suck it up and take her on the rides.  I rode her favorite, the big slide about 10 times with her.  It was worth it though to hear her giggling all the way down.

She even had fun on the creepy headless clown ride...

Although, I'm not sure she noticed they were headless until she got off of it.

I could tell Kyle was a nervous wreck half of the time.  He got on the rides himself and made sure she was all strapped in rather than have the carnies do it.  The whole time she was on the "Lil' Scrambler" we were yelling things like, "keep your arms in, Evangeline" and  "don't lean over".  We were relieved when she was safely delivered from this ride.

Now we really had to muster up the courage to do the Farris Wheel.  Kyle mentioned that one of us should stay on the ground to collect the life insurance.  I think he was joking...

This little munchkin hadn't a care in the world.  She was as happy as a clam on that Farris Wheel.

Haha, I still laugh when I look at this picture.  This is the point of the ride where the wheel comes to a screeching halt at the very top.  Kyle looked a little more than concerned as he proclaimed that we sure do put a lot of faith in this carnival crew and their engineering abilities.  Peggy and I were on the other side of the box making the same faces, I'm sure.

Kyle was great at pointing out all the Marshall landmarks from atop the Farris Wheel.

Here's the fair in all it's glory and splendor.

Getting closer to the bottom and feeling more and more relieved.

And then there was this ride...the ricketiest roller coaster you ever did see.  It jerked and jostled all over the place.  Evangeline spent the first half of this ride with her hands up, but then Kyle said she bumped her head at which point she was ready to get off.

Good thing the fair is only once a year, I'm just not sure a person could handle much more.

Later last week my best crafty gal pal, Colleen came over to make birthday cookies with me.  I think they turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

The moms were a huge help to us over the weekend as we prepared for Evangeline's birthday party.  My mom watched Evangeline all day on Saturday and Peggy helped with cleaning and set up.  What would I do without these lovely women!

Peggy put together some beautiful table arrangements from flowers from her garden.

Grandma gave Evangeline her birthday presents from her on Saturday evening.

This girl is really into monsters for some reason.  (Kyle asked me the other day how in the world we managed to raise a "goth" child.) There's a line of dolls out now called Monster High, which are Barbie-like dolls, but monsters and they are just up her ally.  There is a show to go with them, which we do not watch, but she does like the dolls.
