Last Tuesday my fellow 1st grade teachers and I took our kiddos out to Moonshine for lunch. It's kind of neat because our kids are all around the same age, give or take a year. They have a good time together. I am fortunate to work with some pretty wonderful ladies. They are friends first, then co-workers.
So here we are at Moonshine....a burger joint in the middle of creation. I had never been there before and I was surprised to see how packed it was. It's a destination place, especially for bikers I've heard. It's literally smack in the country. There is nothing but farm land all around. The grill opens at 6:30 A.M. and shuts down at 12:30 P.M. sharp. The food was mighty tasty I might add. I could not believe how much food Evangeline ate! She wolfed down a whole cheeseburger (and these things were not small) and chips. She ate like it was her first meal in ages! I think she is going through a growth spurt.
Another surprising thing Evangeline did that very same day was run over a half a mile without stopping or changing her pace! I took her to the Wilson track (we stayed at mom's that night) and set her loose. I finally stopped her because I was a little concerned that she was over-doing it and because it looked like it was about to rain. Mom and I were amazed at her endurance. She would get half way around the track, look at us and just wave her little heart out with a huge grin on her face. There were two other ladies on the track that stopped to talk to Mom while we were trying to corral Evangeline, they were also very amused by her stamina and speed. I guess the Moonshine burger provided some major fuel.
We had a lovely, lazy 4th of July. Uncle Kenny gave Evangeline this very festive headband a few years back and she was so excited about it this year! She wore it most of the day. I also remembered that she had a tank top with stars on it. She was thrilled. When I pulled it out I realized that it was an 18 month size. She squeezed into it and made it work.
Here we are with the poses...
Kyle got the day off for the 4th of July. We had a nice day around the house. Evangeline helped me make pancakes in the morning and we spent the rest of the day not doing a whole lot. Peggy and Roy invited us over for a cookout in the evening and then we went to the Marshall firework display.
Oh my goodness, Marshall's display was seemingly never ending. I mean, I love a good firework display, but this was nuts! It lasted for over 45 minutes. We very much enjoyed Evangeline at the fireworks this year. She decided that she was going to be a big girl and watch them from our lawn chairs. Last year she freaked out and I ended up watching them from the car with her. After she got over the initial panic of the loud "crackity-booms" (as she called them) she really liked them. However, about a half hour later she was ready to call it a night.
I want to go to there! Also love EB's poses:) Too cute.
