We took Evangeline to Carbondale over Columbus Day weekend. We did all the things... Longbranch Coffee House, a drive by past the hospital she was born in and our old house, a visit to the beautiful Blue Sky winery, a stay at Giant City Lodge, a 20 mile bike ride on the Tunnel Hill trail, dinner at Quatro's and a stop at SIU. It was so lovely to spend this special time with our little Carbondale native. First stop, Longbranch for lunch...
A beautiful fall day to enjoy the scenery at Blue Sky.....
We rented a cabin in Giant City. It was so cozy....
A climb up the water tower in the state park.....
Fried chicken dinner at the lodge.....
20 miles on our bikes on the Tunnel Hill State Trail! Evangeline was a rock star considering she only just learned how to ride her bike! We were all exhausted by the end, but it was such a beautiful day to enjoy the great outdoors.
The tunnel made it all worth it. It was so cool.
A Drumstick stop at a little honor system bike stop was much needed half way....
Quatro's Pizza is one of the things I miss most about Carbondale....
Had to get some Saluki gear before leaving town....
We miss you, Carbondale! We'll be back!
