Love My Job

A highlight of my teaching career thus far was meeting Patricia Polacco this year as our visiting author.  When I first learned that she would be our visiting author I teared up with excitement.  She has been an absolute favorite of mine ever since I was introduced to her books in teaching school by my children's literature professor, Mrs. Louise Stearns.  Evangeline reacted the same way when she learned that she would be coming.  Evangeline adores her books and is one of her all time favorite authors.  I was so excited to have the opportunity to go to a special meet and greet before school and take Evangeline with me.  We were both star struck.

Later that day she spoke to the children of South and North School.  She was absolutely an amazing storyteller.  I could have listened to her all day.  What an amazing experience she presented to the children of our community.

I am so lucky to work in the best environment among the best group of friends a girl could ever ask for.  I love my coworkers.  I love everyone that I work with, but I especially love my first grade team.  This picture was taken on the first day of spring break when we all went to Terre Haute to lunch and to shop (Sarah is not pictured, she could not join us that day). *I am always the designated "selfie" taker of the group because I have the longest arms :)

And another of the best kickoffs to spring break was this little certificate that came home in Evangeline's school folder stating that she mastered her multiplication facts up through 12.  She worked her tail off for this achievement.
