Mom and I took Evangeline to see the play, Charlie Brown's Christmas at Tilson in Terre Haute. It was absolutely wonderful. I think I had a smile on my face the whole time. We had so much fun. It was such a pretty walk back to the car with all the Christmas lights downtown. Such a special evening.
Here are a few pictures of Evangeline teaching Jed the fine art of hand warming in front of the fire place. My grandma Esta always used to say, "cold hands, warm heart." I find myself saying this all the time.
I love this view from our house year round. It's just always so beautiful no matter the season....
We spent a night with mom with absolutely no plans. We simply hung around the house in our PJs. It was a lot of fun. When I stay there I get to sleep with this little bird....and this little bird is always up at the crack of dawn in my face saying things like, "I love you Mommy, I like you Mommy, Mommy are you awake?"
Jed took a nice little afternoon nap while Evangeline made Christmas cards for her friends and family with all the millions of blank Christmas cards ASPCA sends mom in the mail.
Our little Christmas kitty is getting so big and sweet. It's hard to believe we've had him for two years now....
There was a huge outbreak of head lice at our school just before Christmas break. I had five children in my class who got it. I also was one of the lucky recipients along with another first grade teacher. This was a horribly trying time for me, which in reality puts in perspective just how fortunate I am. It was a pain, but a total first world problem.
These kids of mine just love to sing. Kyle had his microphone out the other day when he was playing the guitar. The kids immediately gravitated to it and next thing we know they are singing a duet of old gospel songs they know. Makes the heart melt.
Jed LOVES magazines! There were tons coming to our house all through the holidays and Jed would sit and flip through them for the longest stretches of time telling us all the cool things he wanted for Christmas. He enjoys looking at them in his bed while he waits for Kyle to get ready for work in the morning.
When we stayed with mom we discovered some of my old clothes in a closet in her basement. We washed them up and Evangeline has been looking stylish ever since. Here she is before school with the dress I got my third grade school picture taken in.
Evangeline got the neatest gift from Papa and Karen this year and it came to our house early. It's a year subscription to Universal Yums. Each month she is going to receive a box of candy and snacks from a different country. It also comes with a neat magazine telling about the country and some of the traditions involving the snacks in the box. There is also a riddle giving a clue to what country to expect next. The December box was huge because it came with some of the favorite snacks from the year from all over the world. It was so fun going through it all and learning about where each thing came from!
