Evangeline Turns 8!

It took Evangeline a few days to recover from her birthday illness.  At one point her fever reached over 103 degrees, poor baby.  It was awful and was fearful of being sick on her actual birthday.  Thankfully she woke up fever free on her birthday, but we took it easy all day anyway.  We played with some of the toys and craft kits she received from her friends, made a birthday cake and watched a little TV.

Evangeline was excited to help with her birthday cake this year.  She picked out the heart sprinkles.  I gave Jed a taste of the icing and then he cried at cried for "mo ake".  It was pitiful.  Big sis gave him a few sprinkles and assured him that he would have more cake later.  He was fine for a while after that, but I still caught him a few times trying to swipe at the cake on the counter.

When Kyle got home she opened her gifts.  We got her a few books:  Anne of Green Gables, The Little Princess, a devotional and Owl Diaries.  We also got her a few things for her fairy garden that we picked up without her knowing at Wildflowers in MI.  Jed got her a Monster High doll.  She also got a new backpack and water bottle for school.  We went to a hibachi grill for dinner.  Evangeline hadn't been to a hibachi grill since she was two or so, so it was a totally new experience for both of the kids.  They loved it.  They both even ate very well, which isn't always common.  We stopped at Toys R Us and then ended the evening with birthday cake at home.

I accidently bought the sparkler candles.  Evangeline was scared of them.  She wasn't too keen on having to get close to blow them out so she did it at a distance.

I love love love my little/big girl.  I can't believe how fast the time is flying by.  I can so vividly remember the night she was born.  I often let myself go back to that night and relive all the details in my head.  It's amazing how I can remember it like it was just yesterday.  It wasn't though.  It was eight years ago and that little baby I held that night is now a lovely little girl with a big huge heart.  I'm so proud to be her mother and I love her more than I could ever say.
