Good Times

I took Jed up for the children's message at church for the first time a few weeks ago.  He did a wonderful job.  He sat the whole time right next to "iss" with the biggest smile on his face, proud as could be.  He was still, he was quiet.  I thought I would try it again a few weeks later...nightmare.  He sat for maybe 30 seconds, then he decided he wanted to check things out.  He climbed up the steps of the alter and trotted all over the place.  At one point he was on Pastor Richard's lap, then he was on the liturgists lap (thank goodness it was Becky Farrell and she was able to help him back down the stairs).  He finally came back down to where I could grab him, but he stole the show that's for sure.  I think we will wait a little while longer before we try that again.  Someone on the other side of the church happened to snap a picture of Jed in action and sent it to me.

I've been letting Evangeline cook things all on her own (with help with the oven, of course).  She has been THRILLED.  She's made cornbread and cookies so far.  Oh my, it's taken great restraint on my part to relinquish the reigns here.  It's such a good learning experience for her and baking is something she enjoys so much.  She might as well have been told she won the lottery when I first suggested she try something all on her own.  She wanted absolutely NO help.

Evangeline and Kaiden have been regular little explorers lately.  They can be found tramping through the woods and cornfields at any free chance they get.  She went to play at Kaiden's last week and they were absolutely covered in mud when I went to get her.  Her cowgirl boots were halfway full of water and I don't think I had ever seen her so filthy.  Kaiden's mom, Angie, told me she had to pull her out of the mud and she said, "I didn't know this was quick sand".  Angie got such a kick out of this!  I had to dump a bucket of water on her feet in the driveway before immediately taking her up to the shower.  Boy did they have fun.

Kyle said he saw them at one point out in the corn field "sword fighting" with corn stalks.  They are definitely two peas in a pod.

Jed has really taken a liking to riding around on the lawn mower with Daddy.  He giggles so loud you can hear him right over the mower.  He has the biggest fits when it's time to put it away.

Back to the mud...Evangeline was playing outside the other day when Kyle asked her why there was mud on the fence.  "I'm making mud stickers", she replied.  She was taking the mud from crawdad holes, sticking them in mounds on the wall of the garage and fence, then sticking things to them.  I found one of her "mud stickers" on the mailbox as I was leaving on an errand.  It made me laugh out loud.

Jed also loves to be outdoors.  He loves to carry his ball around, check things out, run around the driveway, scamper down little grassy embankments, explore.  Here he is adding to Iss' chalk drawing with a busted lip, snotty nose and dirt all over his face.

This guy always needs a bath :)
