Evangeline at 5

She says "I love you" all the time.  She loves to tell me, " I love you no matter what" and "you're my favorite mom" .
She's very snuggley.
Where ever I am she's always close by.
She has a raspy voice.
She does not like tee shirts.  She'll wear long sleeves and tank tops, but argues with me if I make her wear a short sleeved shirt.
She still goes "bumpy" when she's tired, when there's music on, or she's singing.
She has a lisp.
She wrinkles up one side of her nose while talking when she is either disgusted, questioning something, or thinks something is peculiar.
She loves to dress up.
She calls the computer the "pacuter".
She makes a pouty face, folds her arms and says, "humph" when she's made about something.
She loves to sing.
She is very well behaved and mostly always follows the rules.
She likes to make her mom and dad happy.
She has a real interest in the inside of the human body.
She likes monsters and creepy things.
She likes the Berenstain Bears, and all other books for that matter.
She gets defensive of her Mama and stands up for me if Kyle and I are ever having a "discussion".
She likes to play tennis.
She loves to go to church.
She's a picky eater, but makes a pretty good attempt to eat healthy foods every day.
She's a good artist.
She likes to be barefoot.

I love her wit, charm and loving nature.  She is the darling of my heart.  I am so blessed to be her mama.

On the day of her birthday we celebrated by spending a few hours playing at the Children's Museum and going to Yogurt in Love.  The afternoon doubled as a last hurrah before school starts too.

She chose the Olive Garden for dinner where she ordered mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.  Her  gifts from Mommy and Daddy were a "decorate your own" paper fan kit, a long nightgown that looks like it came from the 1800's, a dress for Kaya and a Native American dress up costume for herself.  Spoiled, I know.

It's been an emotional few days for me.  We registered her for Kindergarten and she turned 5 in the same week.  She has made the transition from baby to little girl.  I've been struggling to hold on to my baby and rejoice in her independence at the same time.  There really are no words....It's just so complex and startlingly beautiful to watch someone grow up.  Happy birthday, my love.  It's going to be a big year for you.
