Walters Reunion

Such a fun weekend!  We finally got together for a Walters reunion!  We've been talking about doing this for years!  I haven't seen most of my cousins since my wedding so this was definitely a long time coming.  We all met at Nick's Pizzeria in Bloomington on Friday night.  It was wonderful to meet my cousin's kids and spouses for the first time.

(Jed....my little shadow friend.)

We rented the creme de la creme of cabins at McCormick's Creek with Zach's family.  The kids had the best time!

We walked to the lodge for breakfast in the morning.

It took a little while with little legs, but it was a lovely walk.

After breakfast we met up with some of my cousins at the creek.  Evangeline was so looking forward to walking in the creek and up to the waterfall.  Jed was not happy about being told that he was too little to join her, but he did enjoy dipping his toes in the cold water.

My cousin Emily...

I'm constantly amazed by the things I see in nature.  A master fiber artist couldn't create a design more lovely that this spider's web.

Dad's yard may have never looked better.  He and Uncle Kenny worked hard to get it all ready for our big gathering.

Some of us decided to take a rather long hike through the woods.  We made our way to the waterfall and scaled up the other side of the woods....the two acre patch.  We walked for what felt like miles, but it was so much fun to share stories from our childhoods about all of the various places we ventured to with grandma and grandpa, parents, aunts and uncles.

Just a little trickle this day....

My cousin, Vanessa and her husband, Brent....

Evangeline decided to free solo her way up the side of the waterfall and I nearly had a heart attack.

The boys always have the best times together.....

Evangeline is fearless when it comes to climbing trees, scaling rocks, wading through murky waters.  She had everyone biting their nails again when she climbed an apple tree to retrieve the fox tail.  She was getting too high for everyone's comfort and ultimately Dad got it with a limb clipper.

What could they be discussing???

Emily's husband, James, had the ultimate snack set up in his Range Rover/pop-up tent.  Jed sat there snacking and chatting for a very long time.

My Texas cousins are very into Pickle Ball.  It was fun to watch and play.

We went fishing.  The fish were biting!  Vanessa gave Evangeline a lesson catching fish and she caught several.  It was so exciting!  She was a natural!  I was bragging about how good I am at fishing, and of course, I didn't catch anything until I took Jed to the other side of the pond.  We finally caught one, but my brother, who always takes the fish off my hook, was no where around me.  I had to do it myself, which grossed me out.  For some reason, the worm never bothers me, but I've always been bothered to take the fish off.

Zach is like a master fisherman in my book.....

Jed's first fish!

Evangeline's been fishing before, but this was her first fish!

Her face cracks me up!!  The fish was flipping all over the place....

A view from the other side....right before I had to put on my big girl pants and take the fish off the hook...

"Mom, did you feel his eye?"....the poor fish.  I promptly set the little feller free.

Morning at the cabin....anther walk to breakfast and another walk in the woods before we left.  It was such a wonderful time.
