Halloween

Halloween was a lot of fun.  Evangeline decided she wanted to be a flower.  I decided on one of the flowers from Alice in Wonderland as inspiration.  I made the headpiece out of tissue paper.  The dress was the one I wore as a flower when I was in the 6th grade (proving why you should never get ride of anything), her candy bucket was a watering can.
Jed was a bee.  They made quite the adorable pair.  Evangeline paraded around the bandstand and made out like a bandit Trick-or-Treating around town.  We even made a super long hike to see her teacher, who was dressed like a witch.  It was a fun night.  Jed mostly hung out with Peggy and Roy while Kyle and I took Evangeline Trick-or-Treating.

I'll narrow these pictures down some day, but for now I'm keeping them all because they make me smile.  Evangeline had a great time getting into character.

We were cracking up when she first tried this thing on her head.  We went outside to get a picture and she really got into character.  It was halarious.

And there's just never been a cuter bumble bee....

Evangeline looked amazing in her costume.  I've said it a million times, but she is a true pleasure to make things for.  The gratitude she expresses is just the fuel I need to push through the projects.  We visited Papa and Karen to Trick-or-Treat the night before Halloween and she decided she wanted to Trick-or-Treat a little in his neighborhood since she was all dressed up.  This year she went up to the houses by herself and I stood on the sidewalk.  I listened to her politely say "Trick-or-Treat", "thank you" and "my mommy made it".  She kept walking back to me with the biggest smile telling me that her costume was a hit.  At one point I glanced down at the huge flower walking beside me and she looked up at me and said, "mommy, you really nailed my costume this year".  I love her.  I'm going to cherish these memories.
