Marshall Schools Talent Show

Evangeline really wanted to audition for the Marshall talent show again this year.  She decided to try for a piano solo.  A few days after auditions this letter came home in her backpack!  We were so excited!

She did such a beautiful job.  She didn't seem nervous at all, although she said she was.  You would have never known it.  I am so proud of her confidence. and her ability to perform and to share her talents and gifts in front of an audience.  

Stary-Eyed Dreamers

I could watch these children sleep for hours.  Their precious little faces....so peaceful.  What are they dreaming about?  

 

 

This little girl...nestled right in between her mommy and daddy every night....I love it and don't love it at the same time, but it won't last forever and I know I'll long for it when it's over. 

 

I still rock Jed to sleep for his nap.  I often fall asleep with him.  He's so heavy and warm on my chest.  I painted a little Jack-O-Lantern on his big toe a couple of weeks ago when he was feeling left out of our manicure fun.  It makes me smile.  

 

Of course there are one million things I should be doing to catch up on things over the weekend, but this is another thing that will not last.  I want to soak up every moment and I want to remember it all. 

 

Diwali, Bath Time and a Few Other Things

There is a little, and perhaps, little known restaurant on the North side of the big city called Himalayan Aroma.   Kyle only stumbled upon it after Googling Indian restaurants in TH because he had a hankering for curry on night.  The Hutsons have fallen in love with it.  One evening we were invited by one of the workers to a special dinner buffet they were having in celebration of Diwali.  We were excited to have the opportunity to try all kinds of new foods.  Evangeline has become quite the adventurous eater recently.  She asked me for a notebook from my purse and I noticed she was jotting down her favorite dishes she tried so she could remember them for next time. 

 

Jed in the bath.  He loves bath time.  I still bathe him in the sink, but I bathe him in the tub as well.  He likes both locations.  In the tub he likes it when I close the glass doors and let him splash.  He also like to watch the tornado go down the drain when we let the water out. 

 

One of my suculants became a proud mother.  I've been planting all my babies in my big terrarium.  It's so much fun!

 

Evangeline loves to teach Jed things.  Anything.  She feels super happy when she feels like he's learned something from her.  The other day she was even teaching him dog tricks.  She had him sit, roll over, get up, etc.  They showed me his tricks and they were both just as proud as could be.  

This night she was doing homework and she was having him "help" her.  She was instructing him and having him count with her.

Miss Cute

There are some days before school when I just can't get over how cute Evangeline is.  Her personality really shines through in what she decides to wear and how she wants her hair.  She is definitely not afraid to dress how she wants. She's probably the only kid at North that still rocks the puffed sleeves and shoulder pads.  She loves to wear my old dresses and Ainslee's old dresses.  They are definitely her favorites.  I usually always let her wear whatever she puts together....I think it's good for building her confidence and creativity.  Occasionally I have to redirect because her choices are way out there, but mostly I give her creative freedom to come up with her own combinations.

 

Here she is after church wearing my old dress that my grandmother made for me.  I'm so glad my mom kept these.  

Give this girl a themed dress day and she is living the dream!  This was western day.  Colleen's mom has made many of her dress wearing dreams come true!

Bloomington and Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated Dad and Uncle Kenny's birthdays at the farm, but before that we headed over to Bloomington, IN for the morning.  What a beautiful autumn day it was.  The leaves around the square were gorgeous.  We had such fun walking around downtown and visiting some of the shops.  I love Bloomington.  It always reminds me of all the wonderful times spent there when my Aunt was alive.  I always loved to go with my Dad and brother.  I've also had several wonderful moments there with my mom.  Just such a lovely town.  Full of good vibes.



 

There was a ginkgo tree that was very pretty, but boy, did it stink.  Jed was so offended by the smell he was nearly in tears.  Jed doesn't do well with stinky smells.  He always asks for a tissue and then covers his nose with it.  However, there were no tissues under the gingko tree, so he just walked around with his hand over his nose most of the time.

 

It was a chilly day at the farm.  Kyle and Evangeline took a longer walk than Jed was willing to go, so I walked around with him.  The clouds in the sky were straight out of a story book.  It was a lovely day spent celebrating two special men we dearly love and admire.
